Domino's Sets World Record for LED Lighting Efficiency
Tuesday 10 September 2013The Domino's location at 28 West Blackwell Street in Dover, NJ has completed the most energy efficient restaurant lighting retrofit in the world, according to Vanguard Energy Services NJ and Independence LED.
The title was previously held by Applebee’s in Newtown, PA.
Typically, 2- by 4- foot fluorescent troffer fixtures include four 32 watt tubes. Domino's increased energy efficiency by installing LEDs that use only 50 watts per fixture. For future energy efficient projects, Domino’s will utilize LEDs that use 44 watts per fixture.
Savings for Domino's pilot location:
$2,400 per year and $25,000 over LED life 325,000 pounds of CO2 saved With over 10,000 global Domino's locations, the savings is projected to be massive:
Annual: $24,000,000 Lifetime: $250,000,000 Lifetime CO2 Savings: 3.25 billion pounds (1.625 million tons)
