The hidden cost of artificial light
The "white" light from an ordinary LED is an illusion. It is built on a harsh blue spike, while missing vital red wavelengths our eyes need to aid contrast and clarity. When starved of this complete picture, our brains are forced to work overtime to adapt to what is missing.
This relentless, hidden effort is a direct cause of the physical strain and psychological frustration we feel when we read, or focus on the finer details of a hobby. This is often a failure of the light quality as it is your eyes or a consequence of age.

Re-making the natural spectrum
Each colour temperature of light, e.g. 2700K, so called ‘warm’ light, can be created using an infinite number of spectral mixes but the sun shines only one in our direction. The problem this has created for us in modern times is that while we needed to spot and adjust to bright and dark and had good reason to know if it was noon or dusk, there was never any reason to see the spectrum, so we did not evolve to see it.
Today we live indoors under artificial manmade light for 90% of the time and we are unable to see the very different spectral mixes we are living under, something which we believe is having profound effects on our entire species. Our mission is to bring the natural spectrum indoors so we don’t need to worry about this.

The proof is in the data
We are not making this up; the quality of any light spectrum can be accurately measured. For example, one revealing test is for deep red (R9), the part of the spectrum that magnifies contrast. This is where ordinary LEDs fail.
Without deep red, black text looks grey. Our light engine scores an R9 value of over 90, a definitive mark of a truly complete and balanced spectrum.
