Serious Readers 5-Year Warranty: Terms and Conditions

1) What this warranty is

This is a manufacturer’s warranty from Serious Readers Ltd for residential use of Serious Readers High Definition, Alex and Classic Lights. This does not apply to any other Serious Readers products. It sits alongside your legal rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and other UK consumer laws. Nothing in this warranty affects your statutory rights.

2) Duration

Unless we state otherwise in writing for a particular product, the warranty lasts 5 years from the delivery date of your product.

3) What we will do

If your product develops a fault caused by defective materials or workmanship during the warranty period, we will, at our discretion under this warranty:
• Repair the product; or
• Replace the product.
If an identical product or part is unavailable (for example, a discontinued model or colour), we may supply the nearest equivalent functioning alternative model.

4) What is not covered

This warranty does not cover: • Normal wear and tear and consumables (e.g., bulbs on legacy models, batteries, finishes).
• Accidental damage (drops, knocks, spills).
• Misuse, neglect, or careless operation; use not in accordance with the Operating Manual or rating label.
• External factors: transit damage after delivery to you, weather, power surges/outages.
• Use outside normal domestic household purposes or outside the country to which we shipped the product.
• Non-genuine parts, incorrect assembly/installation not carried out by Serious Readers, and repairs or alterations by third parties.
If a claim is not covered, we can offer a chargeable repair or replacement quote.

4b) Bulb life guarantee

HD Light engines, Alex bulbs and Classic bulbs are covered by a separate bulb life guarantee as follows:
HD Light engines: 5 years. Alex bulbs: 3 years. Classic bulbs: 2 years.

This bulb life guarantee runs from the warranty start date defined in Section 2 and is separate from the standard manufacturer’s warranty. It applies to failures arising from defects in materials or workmanship under normal domestic use. Remedies are repair or replacement of the light engine or bulb at our discretion; all other terms and exclusions on this page continue to apply.

5) When the warranty starts and whether it extends

The warranty starts on the delivery date shown on our records.

6) How to make a claim

1) Contact us: hotline@seriousreaders.com, or 0800 028 1890 (freephone).
2) Provide your name, contact details, order number (or other proof of purchase) and a brief fault description; photos or video help us diagnose quickly.
3) We will confirm the next steps. For valid warranty claims in the UK, we will provide a remedy without significant inconvenience. Where we ask you to return the product, we will arrange standard return shipping or reimbursement of reasonable standard shipping costs for validated warranty faults.

7) Transferability

This warranty is transferable with the product during the warranty period if the original proof of purchase is provided, together with evidence of transfer showing the product was in good working order at the time.

8) Extended Warranty (if purchased)

• The Extended Warranty starts the day after the standard warranty ends and follows the same terms and exclusions as this warranty.
• It does not cover accidental damage, misuse, or wear and tear.
• If bought at a distance (e.g., online/phone), you have a 14-day cooling-off period for the Extended Warranty purchase.
• Claims under the Extended Warranty are handled in the same way as in Section 6.

9) What this warranty doesn’t do

• It does not replace or reduce your statutory rights against us as the retailer under UK law.
• It does not guarantee any particular remedy under statute; those remedies remain available independently of this warranty.
