What changes at the first switch-on.
Ordinary light is missing part of the spectrum. A Workshop Light delivers all of it, straight onto your work.

Ordinary light leaves gaps in its spectrum and scores about 80 for colour accuracy. Both Serious Workshop Lights score 98: brown looks brown, red looks red, and a stain dries the shade you matched.

Which mounting is right for my bench?
Take the Gary Light if you work across more than one spot: the 40mm clamp holds a bench lip, a machine frame or a shelf without tools, and moves in seconds. Take the Workshop Light for a fixed bench: it comes with a screw-down base as standard, and once it is in the worktop it cannot move.
For a steel surface you cannot drill, take the Workshop Light with the magnetic base at £29.99, which holds without drilling and lifts off in a second.
What does CRI 98 mean in practical use?
The Colour Rendering Index measures how faithfully a light reveals colour against natural daylight, which scores 100. A low score does not look dim, it looks flat.
Ordinary lighting sits near 80 because its spectrum has gaps, mostly in the reds. Both lights on this page score 98, so grain, annealing colours and wiring codes stand out.
Does the light spread or focus?
It comes with a beam lens fitted, which keeps the light on the piece in front of you instead of spilling across the bench.

How big is it?
Both lights have a 500mm flexible arm, so from the base or the clamp you have about half a metre of reach, plus the head on the end of it.
Bend the arm down low for close work or stand it up tall to light a wider patch of bench, and it holds whichever shape you leave it in.
What comes in the box?
The light, with its beam lens fitted, and a plug-in driver for ordinary UK mains. The Workshop Light comes with its screw-down base and fixings, and the Gary Light with its built-in 40mm clamp.
Magnetic bases, G-Clamps and wall brackets are sold separately, so you only pay for the mount you will use.
Can the LED be replaced?
No. On both lights the LED is built in and cannot be changed.
It is rated for 30,000 hours, and the driver that powers it plugs in separately.
Is delivery included?
Free with this offer. It normally costs £12.95 by DHL, and it arrives within about five working days on the UK mainland.
If you send it back inside the thirty days, you get a full refund and we collect it.
Do I need an electrician?
No. It runs off a plug-in driver that goes into a normal thirteen amp socket, so there is nothing to wire in.
Fitting is a screwdriver job: mark the base, put the screws in, bend the arm to where you work.
What if it is not right for my bench?
You have thirty days to see the difference. If it is not right, or you would rather have the other mounting, call our Aylesbury team on 0800 032 9364 for an exchange or a full refund, and we collect it from your door.
The same number gets you the workshop if anything goes wrong later. We have repaired our own lights for forty years.
Why is it reduced?
Because they are the last of them. The Gary Light was a limited edition of 50, and the Workshop Light is a final batch with no more scheduled.
