What kind of light you read by matters as much as how much of it you have.
By 60, your eyes need about three times the light they needed at 20. A stronger bulb gives you more of it, but you can still find yourself reading the same line twice.

An ordinary LED only looks white. It starts with a blue chip, so its light carries a spike of blue and too little of the other colours, especially red. The HD Pro's Daylight Wavelength Technology™ fills those gaps, so you get every colour, much as you do from daylight.
That is why reading by a window on a clear morning is so easy, and the HD Pro gives you that light at any hour. Colours look true, fine detail is easier to pick out, and with no flicker the light stays steady for as long as you read.

The HD Pro's light engine was measured on 27 November 2023 on an Everfine SFIM-300 at 500 mm, sample HD Wide Beam (S-1). The ordinary LED was measured on 29 October 2018 on the same instrument, at 20 inches.
Daylight scores 100 for colour accuracy. On deep reds, the HD Pro scores 92 and the ordinary LED we measured scores 40.

Every HD Pro is made from 224 specially designed parts by 85 engineers and technicians, and we build no more than five a day. Each one is tested for 48 hours and checked over by hand before it comes to you.
Because it is modular, you can add the cordless battery, the remote and carpet feet whenever you like, and key parts can be serviced or replaced at home.
In 2025/26 our team repaired or converted 1,350 Serious lights, so yours will be looked after for years.
